Good afternoon
everyone! Sorry to be so late on the first post but November snuck up on me so
fast I couldn’t believe it started today. Thanks for being patient with me.
Let’s go over
the lineup for The Book’s Blurb Blog. First, don’t forget to check out the
submissions criteria. Everyone MUST adhere to what is on the page or chance
getting their submission returned. I need to make it easy for both you and me.
I too am a writer, so the easier this blog is to work with the better it will
be.
Now you may have
noticed that today is what’s called Thursday’s Tidbits. Yeah, I know that the
title of the tab is without the apostrophe but something in Blogger won’t let
you have those special characters, so you’ll have to trust me on this one.
Every Thursday, either myself or guest will be giving you tidbits on blurbs and
other promotional opportunities available to you. Some of the items listed will
be 100% free to authors while others may have a small fee. What I define as a
small fee is anything under $25.
Let’s start with
The Book’s Blurb Blog. The blurb portion of the blog will always be free. We
have limited spaces for cover art and banners. The banners can be static or
animated. If they are animated, please make sure that your buy link if you’re
selling your book or your website link are already embedded in the file. No, I
don’t know how to make it work, which is why it needs to come to me already
there. We can make links work on covers and static banners, so no problem
there. For covers, it is $5 per month or $12 for 3 months. For banners, it is
$3 per month, or $7.50 for three. The reason covers are more is because they
are on the front page. At this time, we’re not sure exactly how many spots will
be available. We are keeping 7-10 days of the blog up at a time but this too
will depend upon size and look. Since this is a new blog, we’re just not sure
how big the front page will get at this time. If you want to reserve a book
cover spot and or a banner spot, please email your request to thebooksblurbblog@gmail.com with
what you want to purchase in the subject line. We will get back to you with instructions
within 1-2 days.
For those of you
who are concerned with the marketing of your work, a group you need to join is
Marketing for Romance Writers. Now, don’t let the name fool you as they teach
you how to market any type of book. Recently they’ve had FREE classes on how to
construct a logline and how to write a blurb. They are always holding free
seminars and other classes regarding social media and how to make it work for
you. When I started with them a few years ago, they were a small group that has
blossumed into 1500+ strong. They are worth checking out. Here’s the website http://marketingforromancewriters.org/about.htm
and they also have a Facebook page as well as other resources for writers. Go
check them out...I think you’ll be glad you did.
That’s all for
today! Our blurb posts will start on Saturday and I’ll be back tomorrow with
some words of wisdom on how to construct a blurb. Have a great day everyone!
Lynn
i'll definately have to come back. anything to make a blurb easier--and better. please.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by Larion. Yes, we hope to make it easier to write blurbs. The easiest way is to start, then edit, and edit some more. Practice is the only thing that makes it perfect. I myself feel I have miles to go before I get the perfect blog.
